A State College hotel is under new management and will soon be undergoing renovations.

State College-based hotel and restaurant group Hospitality Asset Management Company recently added Hampton Inn by Hilton at 1101 E. College Ave. to it portfolio of properties.

The 119-room hotel is the closest lodging to Beaver Stadium and the Bryce Jordan Center, and offers amenities such as guest breakfast, a fitness center and outdoor pool.

Renovations to the property will take place “over the next several months to improve the guest offerings and services at the hotel,” according to HAMCO.

“HAMCO is honored to serve as the management company for this pillar of hospitality property in Centre County,” Edward Tubbs, HAMCO CEO said. “We are eager to begin the process of working with the ownership, designers and contractors to further enhance the Hampton Inn to an elevated level of guest service and experiences.”

Unaffiliated with the property but adjacent to the Hampton Inn parking lot, Pat Romano, owner of Philipsburg’s We Are Inn, plans to open a new restaurant called Happy Valley Live this spring in the former Damon’s/Letterman’s space at 1101 E. College Ave.

Hampton Inn is the fifth hotel in the Centre Region under HAMCO management, joining Hilton Garden Inn by Hilton, 1221 E. College Ave.; Days Inn by Wyndham, 1274 N. Atherton St.; Super 8 by Wyndham, 1663 S. Atherton St.; and the Nittany Budget Motel, 2070 Cato Avenue.

HAMCO also has three new Centre County hotels in the works. Tru by Hilton on Benner Pike in Benner Township is currently under construction, and work is expected to begin this year on a Home2 Suites by Hilton on Shiloh Road in College Township and the yet-to-be named hotel for the long-awaited Bellefonte Waterfront project.

Other HAMCO properties are located in Carlisle, Camp Hill, Clearfield, Indiana and Manheim.
